COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Saint Paul’s United Methodist church, which turns its sanctuary into a warming center during brutal winter nights, received a $1,300 check from 13 Action News + Yark Automotive Group to help serve up to 60 people seeking shelter.  WTVG
  • Together for Rare Diseases held a fundraiser brunch Saturday in Toledo to raise funds for research and patient care. Local attendees donated and exchanged information + supported efforts to advance the cause.  WTVG
  • Acoustics for Autism took place in Maumee on Sunday as its 19th annual free music festival, showcasing 10 stages and 107 musical acts to raise funds for local autism support (organizers are now totaling donations and planning next year’s 20th anniversary).  WTVG

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Around 700 jobs at auto parts plants in Tiffin and Bowling Green remain at risk if ownership is not sold or transferred by April 30; local leaders work with state partners to secure a deal that could save up to 407 jobs locally.  WTOL
  • GasBuddy analysis shows Toledo gas prices dropped by 14 cents over the past week (the cheapest station priced gas at $2.39 per gallon on Sunday) with the current average at $2.71. Analysts expect geopolitical tensions could push prices above $3 soon.  WTOL

  • Ritter Planetarium will host two March programs. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Ohio Sea Grant on behalf of OSU, UT and ODHE released its 2025 report on the Harmful Algal Bloom Research Initiative developed after the 2014 Toledo water crisis. The report shows how 29 science teams and state agencies work with local partners to cut nutrient pollution and improve water quality.  Toledo Legal News
  • Northwest Ohio farmers are struggling as a severe drought reduces water supplies and stresses crop yields, raising worries about future harvests. Local experts say the situation could worsen if rainfall does not arrive soon.  WTOL
