COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Following extensive flood damage last summer, the Mini Maumee water play area at Glass City Metropark will remain closed through Memorial Day weekend, as officials work to secure a contractor to begin repairs.  WTOL
  • WTOL 11’s lead investigator Brian Dugger (a longtime local reporter) will be honored in the 2026 BGSU Journalism Hall of Fame, recognizing his strong work in local news. The ceremony will celebrate his impact on the community.  WTOL
  • Restaurant Week Toledo will begin Monday, March 2, at dozens of local restaurants offering meals at special prices to benefit Leadership Toledo’s youth programs with no tuition costs. Visitors can dine at participating restaurants until March 8 plus support the initiative.  WTVG
  • Hartford’s Fencing & Landscaping LLC is offering a free fence installation valued up to $4,000 to a Toledo community member in need. Nominations for a friend, neighbor, or loved one must be sent by email, and a winner will be chosen later this year.  WTVG
  • Acoustics for Autism is taking place in downtown Maumee this Sunday to raise funds for Project iAm (a nonprofit that supports families with autism) and help local families thrive.  WTOL

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Stellantis said workers at the Jeep plant and other facilities will not receive a bonus after the company recorded no profit in 2025. A company spokesperson said the decision comes as part of a business reset aimed at improving future performance in 2026.  WTVG

CULTURE NEWS

  • Toledo Museum of Art held an event Thursday to celebrate its recognition as the best art museum in the country by USA Today for a second year. The museum has 40 galleries spanning 37 acres and a collection of over 30,000 pieces, all offered free to the public.  WTVG
  • The Photo Arts Club of Toledo is hosting its annual photo contest at the Secor Center this weekend, showcasing nearly 40 years of diverse photographic work.  WTVG

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents near Bernath Parkway and Airport Highway oppose converting a vacant TGI Friday’s into a 24-hour Speedway gas station over noise and traffic concerns. A traffic study has been ordered and a zoning hearing is set for March 12 at 2 p.m. at One Government Center (meeting follows).  WTVG
  • Ohio lawmakers are debating a bill to create a Data Center Study Commission that would hold public hearings and issue a best practices report within six months; the measure aims to support small communities in managing the rapid data center expansion near Toledo (which is part of a statewide boom).  WTVG

HEALTH NEWS

  • A WTVG report from Toledo showed nearly three out of four US adults worry about toxic chemicals in food and water, with new research suggesting that 'forever chemicals' may affect men’s aging (reported Feb. 26).  WTVG

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Fred Ehiagwina has dealt with a growing leak that caused holes in his living room and bedroom ceiling at his Fox Run Apartment on Stirrup Lane, scattering insulation on the floor. The landlord admitted the roof leak and is offering discounted rent while planning to patch the holes this week.  WTVG
