COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Following the death of civil rights leader Jesse Jackson last week, local leaders say the fight for equality continues and community voices call for renewed activism — ongoing discussions about change keep the local movement alive.  WTOL
  • The Monroe Street Bridge over US-23 will close March 8 at 9 p.m. for construction and is expected to remain closed until August, causing traffic detours that could impact local businesses.  WTOL

  • Legendary band Chicago will perform at the Toledo Zoo Amphitheatre on June 30 as one of three Ohio summer stops, with presale tickets available today at 10 a.m. and general sale for Feb. 27.  WTOL
  • Rock band Chicago will perform at the Toledo Zoo Amphitheatre on June 30, with pre-sale tickets (10 a.m. tomorrow) available before general sale. The summer event is part of their ongoing tour.  WTVG

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Toledo average $2.85 per gallon today, rising 11.1 cents from last week. Stations range from $2.24 to $2.99 per gallon (data from GasBuddy) while the national average saw a small increase.  WTOL

  • Lauren Wall, a third-year law student from Denver, was chosen as editor-in-chief of the Toledo Law Review 57th Board for the 2025-26 year and is leading changes ahead of the symposium Civility and Professionalism in a Changing Legal World on Friday, Feb. 27 (offering CLE credit in-person and virtually).  The University of Toledo
  • The University of Toledo hit a record with its Rocket Forward Day of Giving, raising $2,454,720 from over 4,000 donors to boost student programs and research. Local partners helped add 867 donors — a sign of strong community support in the campaign.  The University of Toledo

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • GoBus will expand its routes on March 2 to serve Bowling Green, Fremont, and Upper Sandusky, linking rural NW Ohio communities with connections from Toledo to Cincinnati, Ashtabula, and Columbus. The expansion will boost mobility for residents to reach jobs, healthcare, and education.  WTVG
  • At its Feb. 27 meeting, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Board is considering a 1% rate cut that could save private employers nearly $10 million after a 50% rate drop — if approved, it will take effect July 1 and lower premiums to a 65-year low.  Toledo Legal News

  • The U.S. men's hockey team won Olympic gold on Feb. 22 in Milan after Jack Hughes scored an overtime goal against Canada. The win featured players with roots in Canton and East Palestine (echoing Toledo's hockey heritage with ties to the Toledo Goaldiggers) that brings local pride.  WTVG
