COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Brittany Curtis and her family, who moved from Florida to Berdan Avenue, are dealing with urgent home repairs in their Toledo home. Maintenance workers have fixed kitchen cabinets and installed smoke detectors, and Curtis warns future renters to research their management company before moving.  WTVG
  • Old West End neighbors saved a cat that was stuck in a tree for three days when they hired a tree trimming company last Friday. Their quick rescue brought the community together.  WTOL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A sinkhole opened on East Hudson Street about a week ago near Elm and Hudson by Lagrange and Woodward High School, blocking the roadway, and crews from Sewers and Drainage will begin repairs on Monday, Feb. 23.  WTVG
  • On Feb. 20, a shelter in place order (issued by TFRD) was imposed around the Sofo Food facility on Waggoner Road due to an ammonia leak; the order has since been lifted.  WTVG

CULTURE NEWS

  • Toledo Tattoo Company and Bold Lines Gallery are launching a shared art space on March 14 at 608 Market Street, Suite 105. The venue combines a tattoo studio and rotating exhibit gallery (located across from the Farmers Market) to serve as a community hub for local artists and art lovers.  Toledo City Paper

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Dr. Andrew Jorgensen, a professor emeritus of chemistry, explained that despite the bitter cold, data from yesterday shows Toledo is averaging eight fewer peak winter days as part of long-term climate trends.  The University of Toledo

  • Lucas County Children Services is hosting community conversations to gather input on child welfare from local families + a spokesperson discussed the plans during an interview on WTOL 11.  WTOL
  • Secor Rd will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Laskey and Alexis starting Tuesday, Feb. 24 (as part of a road construction project expected to last until August).  WTVG

HEALTH NEWS

  • The registration website for the 2026 Komen Race for the Cure opened on Friday with an early bird deal, letting participants register online at a discounted rate. The event helps promote health awareness in the community.  WTOL
