  • Actress, author, and podcast host Jennie Garth will appear at the Toledo Lucas County Public Library (as part of the Authors! series) to discuss her new memoir I Choose Me.  The Blade

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Toledo Public Schools confirmed Woodward will remain open as transformation talks begin — a move that calmed district concerns. Superintendent Romules Durant said the decision comes amid planned improvements, and community member Tom Galloway from Perrysburg expressed relief at the news.  The Blade
  • Area schools and the University of Toledo are drafting protocols for staff in case federal law enforcement agents visit campuses, aiming to clarify procedures and protect students. Officials say the guidance will help administrators respond properly when needed.  The Blade
  • The University of Toledo will hold its 36‑hour fundraising campaign on Feb. 18‑19, inviting students, faculty, alumni and supporters to give early and become advocates for scholarships, research and community care. Early donors giving at least $25 will receive a charging cable as thanks + boost Rocket programs.  The University of Toledo

  • An independent state review determined that Lucas County Children Services met or exceeded its child welfare requirements before teen Kei'Mani Latigue’s death in Toledo.  WTOL

HEALTH NEWS

  • UToledo Health has launched a new partial hospitalization program that offers over 21 hours a week of structured care for adults facing substance use disorder. The program, available now at the Medical Center, provides group & individual therapy sessions without requiring a referral.  The University of Toledo

  • Walleye players visited Washington Local’s Monac Elementary on Wednesday, turning the gym into a live hockey setup where students could watch action and interact with the players (bridging classroom and local sports).  WTOL
