- ➤ Lucas County Canine Care & Control partners with Cherry Street Mission for the 'Give Love, Get Love' Valentine’s Day adoption special running Feb. 1-14; adopters pay a $14 fee with a donation of a personal hygiene item at LC4 (1301 Monroe St.) to support essential supplies for those experiencing homelessness. - ➤ Toledo Public Schools laid off nurses and social workers after the board approved budget cuts to address a projected deficit — the measure reduces essential staff for daily student care. The cuts followed efforts to balance the budget amid declining enrollment and rising costs. WTOL

- ➤ The Ohio Rail Development Commission approved a $120,000 grant to rehabilitate a rail crossing at Chrysler Drive serving the Toledo Jeep plant on January 22. - ➤ At Swanton farm, H.O.O.V.E.S. held a five-day healing intensive in summer 2024 where veterans worked with rescued horses, and a national study found healing benefits lasted six months. Program director Robert Drake credited the program with providing key tools for long-term recovery. WTVG
