COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Hundreds gathered on Clayton Street Sunday night to voice concerns over new immigration policy changes. The hour-long rally highlighted active local community engagement.  The Blade
  • Friends of Library Fundraising volunteers collect donated books and unused titles and host recurring sales every five to six weeks to raise funds for the library (a key community effort) and support local readers.  WTVG

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kay's Table in Sylvania is set to reopen in January with a renewed menu of authentic southeast Asian fare following owner Kay Xiong Le’s decision last August to keep the restaurant open. The five-year legacy continues with updated dishes for returning patrons.  The Blade

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bowling Green State University said WBGU-TV will stop airing PBS programming after June 30 due to federal funding cuts that remove over 40% of its budget. The station will shift to limited livestreaming of university events (including commencements and athletic contests) and increase hands-on opportunities for students.  WTOL
  • Following library budget cuts, Friends of the Library raised funds with its three-day book sale at the Book Center at 1301 N. Reynolds Road, selling 1,000 books in January. The nonprofit will host another sale Feb. 26-28 with books at $1 and Saturday bags for $8 & support library programs.  WTVG
  • The Toledo Federation of Teachers president outlined the union’s perspective on TPS’s plans to transform the district and encouraged responsible alcohol use during Dry January (a call for moderation).  WTOL
