- ➤ Residents and nonprofits in Old South End are testing a receivership process to repair over 70 abandoned properties. The group will start with one house on Colburn Street+ and if the pilot succeeds, extend the approach to other blighted homes to combat years of disinvestment. WTVG
- ➤ Local organizers of Sock it to the Homeless will distribute winter gear and record-breaking 2,200 new socks, hats, and gloves at the 419Cares food kitchen on Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. on 18th St & Madison Ave, following a drive that collected donations from local businesses since November. WTVG
- ➤ Heat was restored for an 86-year-old Toledo resident after he used space heaters + an oven to warm his home, a dangerous practice that put him at risk. The incident happened on Jan. 8 before proper heating was reestablished. WTVG
- ➤ The Victory Center will host its 19th annual luncheon and fashion show (Courageous in Coral) on Friday, Feb. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg, with WTOL anchors Dan Cummins and Kalie Marantette returning to support free cancer services. WTOL
