About this event
Get creative this holiday season with a little inspiration from Great Lakes artist Alexander Burns Cook!
Join us for a special drop-in Capt. Scupper’s Kids Club activity inspired by our newest temporary exhibit, An Artist at the Water’s Edge: A Century of Marine Art by Alexander Burns Cook . For more than 50 years, Cook shared his artistic talents with the National Museum of the Great Lakes, creating original artwork for the museum’s annual Christmas cards. Now, it’s your turn to carry on the tradition!
Young artists can explore examples of Cook’s holiday artwork before using watercolors to create their very own Christmas cards to take home and share with someone special.
The creativity doesn’t stop there! Enjoy screenings of The Adventures of Kitty Smoke and Her Friends , based on Cook’s beloved children’s book, along with fun coloring pages and activity sheets. Families will also receive a special coupon for $3 off the Kitty Smoke book in our Museum Store.
No registration required! Drop in anytime on Saturday, November 28 between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. All art supplies are provided, and activities are included with regular museum admission.
